Silver, a Mergs' Best Friend

aaa...I loves the smoke theme, here it has manifested as mergs silver...

One of my favourite beasties: the hitotsume, below in silver along with original sculpey rendition.

Below Top: the bird of my dreams...with a bit of intestine in her mouth...classy! The mergs silver Tengu avec gut in beak! And right at the bottom is a hybrid of the Kappa at the front (left) and a squid with pointy tentacles at rear (right)!

Louis Vuitton & MergsWorld Monogram

The monogram is essentially an observation of how some myths can be taken as reality (like religion) and how real life can escalate into myth (like religion!). It is also an experiment into the idea of the mythology behind couture and big fashion labels, handbags and limited edition designs having become a religion in its own right with private shrines dedicated all to their glory! The use of the LV monogram is not only a nod to its iconic image but also a reference to how some people feel when they see this pattern stretched over a piece of luggage or a tiny wallet. Im not an expert on fashion but I have seen in my time enough folk pausing for a moment of awe when they see it. Is it a bit too much? I dont know but it does certainly have that effect on some people which is interesting enough on its own. Its a work in progress and there are yet to be many more characters of myth and prominent figures of history and contemporary times to be added to the monogram.

A cover I did of a book I'm currently reading by a Mr. Kobo Abe! A stunning piece of writing about a man who loses his face and subsequently his identity, and his mind, sort of. Highly recommended, although if you don't fancy reading a wordy exercise in existentialism, perhaps watch the film of the same title, starring Tatsuya Nakadai!

Ever see a pigeon in the street digging in a box of chicken wings? Its a sad shameful sight when you see an animal eating its own kind...
The Tengu is a revered and also fearsome creature of nature in Japanese mythology. He is part bird part man, sometimes having the head and face of a bird some of them resemble men with great big noses, which can grow to great lengths with age. Mergsworld: The Silent Comic-strip

Introduction
Mergs lives in a grey and oppressive world, confined by a plethora of laws which are concerned with catergories, labels and order. This is Merg's world.


Pt.1 Sunrise!
Our protagonist awakes to the automated sound of chicken, and in his mind he sees the sun rise over grassy hils. As his eyes open he sees the world in the only colours as he knows it for, and prepares accordingly to his timetable for work duties.

Pt.2 Breakfast, cartoons and then...
Mergs takes pleasure in the little things in life; looking after stray cats and cartoons from an age gone by are his little treats before facing the day at the Old Factory. Without these (and a few other things) life as Mergs knows it holds very litle pleasures.


Pt.3 ...Off to work!

Pt.4 "Got a snout?"

Pt.5 "You need a new hat more than a snout, bub..."

Pt.6 Take flight!

Pt.7 Snow in the city
"Its cold and this hat is stinky, but hey, I feel like I've started the day well! I'm bettin' my granma's funky drawers that I've just made that old chap's day!"

Pt.8 Time for a snout...

Pt.9 A vision!
Right before Mergs' eyes a world comes into view within the smoke ring. He has never seen anything so strange, so bizarre...
...and is left speechless!

Pt.10 Sweating on the bus
As the vision dissolves back into the city, Mergs is left in a daze. His bus arrives and seats himself on the upper floor, reflecting on the mysterious world he has just been allowed to catch a glimpse of...and the world that is in front of him...

And he asks himself, "Just what is this place?"
